When my husband and I got engaged, I knew I’d be taking the lead on the look and feel of the wedding. We wanted the day to feel like us, colourful, playful and a little bit fun, and I loved having an excuse to make and design all the little details.

I designed and created as much as I could by hand, from building and painting our wedding sign to hand-cutting the edges of our menus. I made all the vases and candlestick holders for the tables too, which doubled as favours for our guests to take home at the end of the night.

We also made our own wedding bands and I baked and decorated the cake! It was a very hands-on project and one of the most fun things I’ve had the chance to design.
